Hi! I'm Erika, illustrator, artisan, and founder of Nekojima Studios, a little corner of Italy where curious kittens, a kawaii vibe, and a touch of magic come to life through illustrated stationery and accessories.
Ever since I was a child, I've always had a pencil in my hand... and at least one cat by my side. Drawing was my way of telling stories, imagining worlds, and turning fantasy into reality.
After studying at Rome's Liceo Artistico, at just 19 years old I decided to turn this passion into a career. Thus was born my first brand, Le Chat Noir Cutisserie, through which I handmade polymer clay jewelry and accessories. Over the years, I've been fortunate enough to participate in fairs such as Expocartoon, Romics, Lucca Comics & Games, and Cartoomics, meeting thousands of people who chose to take home one of my creations. Thanks to Etsy, my work has begun to travel even further, reaching customers in countless countries.
In 2020, I felt the need to change direction and return to what made me fall in love with art in the first place: drawing.
Thus was born Nekojima Studios.
“Nekojima” literally means cat island, an imaginary place where every character has its own personality, every illustration tells a little story, and every product is designed to bring a smile.
Today I design and create original collections of planners, notebooks, stickers, washi tape, keychains, accessories, and many other small illustrated objects. Each item is born from an idea I draw and is crafted with the same care I would put into preparing a gift for a friend.
My inspirations come from Japan, kawaii culture, anime, nature, and, above all, my beloved cats, who provide me with new ideas every day (and a few fun distractions while I work!).
I believe even the simplest objects can make your day a little lighter. A planner that makes organizing a pleasure, a sticker that makes you smile, a bookmark that accompanies a special story: it's the little details that transform everyday life.
